CHOOSING A SIZE & A POSE

Here is some information on choosing a suitable size of portrait, and some considerations for deciding on what sort of pose you might want for your subject.

SIZE OPTIONS

I offer a range of sizes to suit your needs, from 30 x 21 cm (A4) for head-and-shoulder portraits to larger formats like 40 x 60 cm (A2) for multiple subjects or full-body portraits. A4 is ideal for capturing a single subject without overwhelming the space. For two or more subjects, I recommend 40 x 35 cm (A3) or larger, allowing for more detail. If you have a specific frame or size in mind, I can work with you to create a custom size that fits perfectly.

For multiple subjects, a horizontal format works best, with larger sizes like 35 x 50 cm (14 x 20 inches) or 40 x 60 cm (A2) recommended to ensure enough space for detail. You can always get in touch for a custom quote or advice on sizing.

CHOOSING THE POSE

The pose is entirely personal. Whether it’s a classic head-on portrait or a more contemplative moment, consider what best reflects your subject’s personality. For children, incorporating a favourite toy or pet can add a meaningful touch.

Some clients prefer to choose a favourite photo where the subject is smiling and looking directly at the camera. Others opt for a more thoughtful or artistic pose, like looking off to the side, downwards, or in profile. These poses can add a unique touch to the portrait.

For children, including a favourite toy or pet can be a lovely way to reflect their personality and add sentimental value to the portrait.
